Let me take you back to a beautiful sunlit afternoon in June, 2012. The Monet-esque reflections in the pond, the one piece swimsuits, the quiet contemplative embrace, the back lighting, that oh so cheeky wet handprint…
I could go on but just look at it – there isn’t a detail about this jaw dropping picture from Alissa Brunelli that could be improved upon is there? The location is Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
I was inspired by this set to post a quote from another photographer – David Mushegain – that I came across recently.
I think there are so many incredible women out there just waiting to be photographed and it blows my mind that glamour and fashion does not embrace this. The industry sticks with a narrow vision of beauty and I am not sure if people are scared, or if they just don’t see outside the box.
Most magazines have a rigid formula and most editors are under the thumb of their advertisers, so there is not much room to take risks.
But I think this will change. I have faith in our new generation – we just have to get the old guard to loosen their grip a bit. But we know, time will take its course and like the death of some villain in a movie who is hanging from the edge of a building…finger by finger that grip will slip.
