Breaking News! Mellisa Clarke has won The Sun’s Page Three Idol competition!
I’ve been a huge fan ever since her early appearances in FRONT. Mel’s very modern take on the 1920s flapper look with her bob hairstyle framing impossibly pretty anime princess features immediately made her stand out from the crowd. She went on to appear on several FRONT covers showing that ‘alt’ doesn’t have to just be about tattoos. Her unique style combined with a fabulous figure gives her a distinctive and hugely popular appeal all of her own.
She does have some ink of course – notably a vintage pin-up lady on her thigh – which must be a first for a Sun Page Three Idol winner. I think FRONT are to be credited with building the bridge between ‘alt’ and ‘mainstream’ that Mel has skipped across! Are we seeing a breakthrough moment in the history of alt/glamour modelling?
